The Racanelli Family

16 years of motherhood

Our story

For the past 16 years, my world has revolved around my children. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom, a Christian, a homeschool mom, the chauffeur, the teacher, the cook, the encourager, and the person my kids could always count on to be there. We’ve built our life around family, faith, school lessons at the kitchen table, movie nights, good food, and making memories together. I’ve never needed much for myself because being there for my kids has always been what mattered most. Now, our family is walking through something we never expected: divorce. There are so many unknowns ahead of us. Where we will live, what our new normal will look like, and how our family will adjust to a life that is going to look very different. As a mom, my instinct is to hold everything together and make sure my children are okay, even when I don't have all the answers myself.

What the weekend would mean to us

That's why I would love the opportunity to give my kids a distraction from all of the uncertainty—a chance to stop thinking about what's changing and simply be a family. We love to travel and experience new things, and my kids are at the age where those memories mean so much. A special adventure would give us something to be excited about, something to laugh about, and something we'll remember long after this difficult season is over. Sometimes you can't change the circumstances you're walking through. But you can give your children joy in the middle of them. And right now, I think our family could use a little joy, a little adventure, and a whole lot of making memories together.
