Little Did We Know We Were Coming Home to Texas
Our story
Fifteen years ago, moving from Kansas City to Keller, Texas felt like leaving home behind. But a Mother's Day trip to nearby Denton unlocked our history. I discovered my Irish immigrant great-great-grandfather, Peter O'Reilly, was a Denton pioneer. He even cleared the railroad tracks running a half-mile from my new house. Moving here wasn't leaving home; it was coming back to it.
What the weekend would mean to us
Over the last fifteen years, we have raised our three boys here, and they have grown into Texans through and through. Texas is firmly our home now. Now that our boys are grown and starting their own independent lives, my dream is to gather our entire family together at a Texas ranch to celebrate the deep, historic roots that brought us all back to where we belong.
