Melody & Phil
47 years married and still in love!
Our story
He was the President of our college Baptist Student Union. My mom told me for 3 years to go to the BSU if I wanted to meet a nice Christian boy. In my head I kept saying “I don’t need the BSU for that!” In my senior year I accepted a friend’s invitation and went with her to the BSU noon day service thinking this would be a one and done! When I saw Phil standing on the stage welcoming new people I thought “oh, I’m new! I hope he comes over to meet me!” He saw me and thought, “I’m going to have everyone stand up and meet someone new so I can meet her.” So he did. We met. 4 months later we were engaged!
What the weekend would mean to us
Phil and I have a small ministry called Pray2Stay where we teach couples how to do exactly what our ministry says! In the last 7 years since launching our ministry, I went through a rare and aggressive form of cancer. After God miraculously healed me, I still had to recover and get my strength back. Phil has had to bear the load of cooking, cleaning, laundry, caring for me AND running the ministry. I’m much better now. But a few days away from home would be a mental, emotional, and spiritual refreshment for us. And I would love to give Phil this trip as a thank you for the load he has had to bear in the last few years.
