Our story
Rick and I met back in the '90s and lost touch. We reconnected in 2014, not via a social media app but in person, and have been together for 12 years. We have two cats, Coco and Chanel.
What the weekend would mean to us
The last three years have been incredibly challenging for us. Rick has battled prostate cancer, endured cancer treatments, and been in and out of the hospital. Since May, he has been dealing with constant dizziness—24 hours a day. Despite numerous doctors and tests, they still haven’t been able to determine the cause or find a treatment. Rick is a server at Truluck’s, and because he is dizzy all the time, he simply cannot work. No work means no income. I lost my job three times and am doing everything I can to find work and bring in income for us. In 12 years together, we have never had a real vacation. The only time we’ve gotten away together was for one night in Lake Charles. That’s why this opportunity would mean so much to us. Spending time together, enjoying the ranch, making happy memories, and simply having a chance to breathe and enjoy life together would be incredibly special. Rick has the biggest heart and the kindest soul. He is one of the most compassionate people I know, and we are both lifelong animal lovers.
