Delete your account and data

Last updated August 12, 2026

You can ask us to delete your A Weekend of Wonderful account and the information we hold about you at any time. There is no form to argue with and no retention offer — you ask, and we do it.

How to ask

Email contact@neverjustexist.org with the subject Delete my data, from the email address you used to sign in. Or use our contact form and say the same thing.

Sending from the address you signed in with is what lets us confirm the request is really yours. If you signed in with Facebook or Google and no longer have access to that email, tell us and we will find another way to verify you — we will not simply refuse.

We confirm by email when it is done, normally within a few days and always within 30 days.

What gets deleted

Your account and sign-in details, your name and email address, your contact history with us, and your place on our mailing list. If you entered the contest, your entry — your story and your photos — is removed from the site.

What we have to keep, and why

Vote records, with your identity removed. Votes are detached from you and kept as anonymous counts. Deleting the votes themselves would change the standing of entries that did nothing wrong and would let someone rewrite a contest result by deleting an account. Nothing in what remains identifies you.

Donation records. If you donated for bonus votes, the charity is required to keep the record of that donation for tax purposes, and Stripe keeps its own record of the payment. We cannot delete those, and we will tell you so rather than quietly keeping them.

A minimal block record, if your account was blocked for fraud. Otherwise deletion would be a way to reset and start again, which on a contest with a $10,000 prize is not a small loophole.

If you only want the emails to stop

You do not need to delete your account for that. Use the unsubscribe link in any message, or go to /unsubscribe. You will keep your account and your votes, and we will stop sending you marketing. Donation receipts still come through, because those are records you may need.

Disconnecting Google or Facebook

Removing this site from your Google or Facebook account’s security settings stops you signing in with that provider. It does not delete what we already hold — for that, email us as described above.

More detail on what we collect and why is in our privacy policy.
