Anthony
GBS almost killed me, but I’m getting a second chance at life
Our story
Guillain-Barré Syndrome nearly took my life. I spent two months in the ICU on life support, completely unable to move my limbs or breathe on my own. My kidneys failed, I needed a pacemaker because I coded from cardiac arrest twice, and lost 50 pounds. Then came a tiny movement—and hope. Today, I continue the long road of recovery, still disabled, with my devoted wife balancing work while serving as my primary caregiver.
What the weekend would mean to us
After spending months fighting for my life on life support and then working tirelessly through intensive rehabilitation, a trip to the ranch would mean so much more than a vacation. It would be a chance to experience freedom, joy, and adventure again after a year defined by hospital rooms, uncertainty, and hard work. Even more meaningful, I would share this experience with my wife, who has been my devoted caregiver, constant supporter, and source of strength throughout it all. Together, we deserve the chance to step away from the challenges of recovery, make beautiful new memories, and celebrate just how far we have come.
